Post subject: | pl2303 serial port + usb hub |
Hi, I developed a software that relies on a usb stick to communicate with a radio network. The USB stick essentially is a usb serial converter (pl2303), it is correctly detected and found in /dev/ttyUSB0. If I just plug the Usb stick into the devboard and then run my programm everything works fine. But when I use a usb hub between the stick and the board, then run my programm, the whole system is going very slow (ssh connection takes years to connect, a simple "ps" takes about 2 sec ...). I already tried another usb hub, same problem. USB-Stick -> devboard => runs fine USB-Stick -> USB hub -> devboard => everything slow So do you have any suggestions what could cause this problem or what i can do? Thanks in advance |

Try FTDI chip based USB to serial converter. PL* and some other "low end" converters have issues with drivers (also applies to PC's, MAC's, etc). |

hi thanks for your reply. I think I didn't express myself clearly enough, I can't modify the usb stick (I just bought it), so I can't change the pl2303 to a ftdi chip. The stick also works fine on windows and linux machines (both with and without hub). You got any other suggestions? |

You can debug usb driver, this could help answering some questions. Else, try different hardware configurations. |

Are you using wi-fi? Then try turning it off. |
