Hello all,
I just received my Carambola + dev board in the mail, and started getting my hands dirty. I started by following the instructions here:
http://www.8devices.com/wiki_carambola/ ... rial_cable in order to set up a serial connection to the board (because none of the computers that I own have serial I/O ports). I've included pictures of my soldering job and interface here.
I have one of these laying around:
http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9873 so rather than buying a whole new FTDI cable, I'm using the Sparkfun equivalent. I downloaded and installed the drivers here:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm and followed the directions here:
http://www.8devices.com/wiki_carambola/ ... l_terminal (picocom) in order to communicate with the board.
I know that I have the drivers set up in Ubuntu (12.04) correctly, because when I type something at the picocom terminal the TX light flashes. However, I get nothing back on the terminal, and no LED flash on the RX line indicating that the Carambola module is even attempting communication.
I tested my continuity everywhere. The Carambola module is connected to the pins that I've soldered. Ground connectivity is also solid. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this?
Thanks!
Tim
